2007-04-14 MidWest Record By Chris Spector - Review
RONI BEN-HUR/Keepin' It Open: Low key jazz guitar date that you'll simply put on, let your jaw drop and wonder where the time went when it ends. A throw back in many ways to the classic Blue Note and Verve dates that first got you into jazz, Ben-Hur is a killer guitarist and leader and this date, no matter what stylistic turns it makes, holds together as a whole and turns you into an instant fan. Exactly the meaty kind of sate real music fans are looking for more of to dig their teeth into these days, this set is a stone cold winner from start to finish and should not be listened to unless you are probably prepared to be blown away and have a new fave. Hot stuff. 10 (Motema)
