DJ Jackie Christie, the glamorous, jet-set New York City DJ known for remixing Madonna and Yoko Ono, spinning fashionista parties for Donatella Versace and Marc Bouwer and Djing everywhere from The Roxy to Japan, is now rocking the club world with her debut album, Made 4 U.
Adored and respected by discerning DJ’s and dance-floor connoisseurs worldwide, Christie first hit her stride with the original track, “Bitch” (“Leonardo DiCaprio danced his ass off to it every time I played it!”) before following with a series of successful DJ-mixed albums. She is the first woman to be on the cover of industry bible, DJ Times, and has appeared in French Vogue, The New York Times, PAPER, URB and Vibe. DJ Jackie Christie has made her name moving crowds at legendary nightclubs, hosting radio and television shows and producing monster remixes. Fueled by DJ skills, chart successes, and her love of a fierce track, Jackie Christie’s career shifts into high gear with the release of her debut album, Made 4 U, on which she brings home her vision of nightlife via eleven glistening, chrome-plated club tracks.
Made 4 U was co-produced with Shane X. Conry, with whom Jackie recently remixed Madonna’s “Nothing Fails.” (The single went to #1 on the Billboard Club Chart and remained on the Billboard Dance Singles Sales chart for 26-weeks). The success of “Nothing Fails” led to an album deal with New York-based indie label, Motéma Music.
An eclectic collection of dance genres—bangin’ house tracks, big-room club anthems and drive-time dance ditties—the album features an equally electrifying line-up of featured vocalists including America’s No.1 drag queen, Lady Bunny (founder of NYC’s annual Wigstock festival), House music pioneer Kraze (“The Party,” “I Said Shuddup”), club diva Sandy B (“Make the World Go Round,” “Ain’t No Need to Hide”) and newcomer Dirty Shane of Discomind.
“I love gathering diverse talents around me and creating something new, fresh, trying new things, breaking down barriers and expectations,” explains Christie. “I find strength, spice, in variety: Just as I have a wonderfully rich mix of people in my life, so on the album.” Walking her talk, Christie’s dazzling first single—and the album’s opening track—Beautiful Day” is a gloriously sunny “feel good” anthem featuring Motéma labelmates, Discomind (whose album, The Fresh Turnout was released in October).
Reflecting on the inspiration for her success, Christie says, “The lyrics of my first single, ‘Beautiful Day’ sum up my philosophy: ‘There are people in your life that can lift you up so high I and even when your wrong, they’re still standing by your side. / It’s a beautiful day with you in my Iifel’ We all have someone we feel that way about, some one who has made a difference in our lives.
