New York, NY -- April 24, 2003 -- Motema Music announced that it was partnering with the MusicDish Network to bring a new wave of jazz artists to online music fans worldwide. The label, headed by founder/CEO Jana Herzen and Veteran Manager/Producer Suzi Reynolds, launched this spring with releases from established and respected jazz artists Babatunde Lea and Lynne Arriale.
"With Motéma, we try to do everything cutting edge while covering the right markets," noted Jana Herzen. "We feel that MusicDish Network has a comprehensive, innovative way of accomplishing this and we're very excited to be working with them. "
The MusicDish Network will launch a unique web campaign in collaboraton with the label around its recognized web programming features to be published by network member sites. Slated for release on the week of April 28th, the first web feature will introduce Motema Music's inaugural line-up of releases just as they are about to make a splash at National Public Radio and the May issue of Jazziz Magazine
"By coordinating the 1st phase of the campaign with other events in radio, print & live, we can really capitalize on the buzz already being created by a label like Motema," said Eric de Fontenay. "We wanted to provide a more intimate online environment where jazz fans that might have heard the broadcast or read about these wonderful musicians could get themselves more acquainted."
Running for 2 weeks starting April 24, 120 National Public Radio stations will be broadcasting "Jazz Set with Dee Dee Bridgewater," featuring Motema Music's Lynne Arriale Trio's performance at the San Francisco Jazz Festival plus wrap-around interview. The NPR event will precede a set of shows on both coast by Babatunde Lea & Lynne Arriale Trio's, both of whom are als featured in Jazziz Magazine May "World Music" issue.
"Motéma is devoted to supporting the creative process of artists who have already acheived a significant level of artistic accomplishment in jazz, world, dance and other creative music," explained Suzi Reynolds. "We and our artists all support music education through the Educultural Foundation begun by Motéma artist Babatunde Lea and his wife, Virigina Lea, Ph.D. We value everyone in the company as artists and even our owner, Jana Herzen, an extraordinary singer / songwriter / guitarist, will release an album of all original music, 'Soup's On Fire,' in July. Motéma is more than music. "
