A super‐skilled and charismatic percussionist who is deeply trained in R&B, Afro‐Latin, jazz and traditional African percussion techniques, Koko Jones has recorded and toured internationally with a who's who of the jazz
and R&B world including extended runs in the bands of such super stars as Whitney Houston and The Isley Brothers.
In 2013, Koko will release her fourth album as a leader, her third on the Motema label and her very first recording made since she courageously transitioned and exposed the truth about her lifetime struggle with “Gender Dysphoria”.
Koko's “Who's That Lady,” is not only a fascinating, musically brilliant R&B /World/ Jazz crossover project, it is also Koko's first project to feature vocals and her first project as a lyricist. The album embraces not only her Afro/Latin jazz sensibilities, it also encompasses the musical influences of her R&B and gospel roots.
